The Lorax, by Dr. Seuss
Garden Designed by
The Lorax is a powerful book that provokes a call to action to conserve the earth’s precious and finite natural resources. And the world is at risk of losing the Brown Bar-ba-loots, Swornee Swams, Humming-Fish and Truffula Trees. This garden will display an oversized opened book, measuring 16 feet by 8 feet, and will welcome visitors into this storybook garden. Two lawn panels symbolize the pages of the book curving into the spine like two giant waves. A bookmark will stand upright between the pages inscribed with the quote “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” A path alongside the book will lead visitors into the garden. A street sign will read “The Street of the Lifted Lorax.” Truffula Trees will guide your way to the place where the Lorax once stood before someone lifted the him away. A large stump will be surrounded by a small pile of rocks, with one word, “unless,” engraved in one of the rocks.
